Sırça S. Göğüş

Climate Expert
Sırça is an accomplished sustainability professional with over 15 years of interdisciplinary experience spanning the private, NGO, and international public sectors. Driven by a deep commitment to be a global civic, and determination to create a sustainable and equitable future for all, she has dedicated her career to transformative action along the climate-sustainability-governance nexus. Her work bridges sectors and disciplines, fostering cross-cutting insights and impactful collaborations that contribute to a more resilient planet.
Most recently, Sırça served as a Climate and Energy Senior Expert at WWF-Türkiye, where she planned and executed several multi-stakeholder projects with a focus on decarbonization, science-based targets, just transition, sustainable growth, and urban climate action. Her strategic vision and leadership helped secure approximately €1 million in funding and grants, significantly advancing the organization's conservation policy and advocacy efforts. Sırça also sought to advance capacity-building, delivering targeted trainings and creating accessible and actionable knowledge products for diverse audiences, including civil servants, private sector experts, youth, volunteers as well as fellow trainers.
Before joining WWF-Türkiye, Sırça held roles as a Sustainability Research Consultant at S360 Sustainable Transformation Services and Advisory, where she co-led strategic sustainability research and consulting services specializing in ESG investing and environmental and social impact, and as a Consultant at Regional Environmental Center (REC) Turkey, contributing to environmental governance projects and supporting international policy discussions.
Sırça’s career is further marked by extensive international experience. She served as a trainee at the Delegation of the EU to the USA in Washington D.C., where she supported high-level diplomatic reporting on climate change, energy, and transport policies, gaining firsthand insight into transatlantic environmental governance. Earlier, she was a policy intern at the European Hydrogen Alliance in Brussels, where she closely followed EU environmental legislation and participated in lobbying efforts on hydrogen applications. These roles provided her with a deep understanding of international policy-making and stakeholder engagement at the highest levels. She has also contributed internationally to the Health of Mother Earth Foundation in Nigeria and the Tyndall Centre for Climate Change Research in the UK, reflecting her global perspective on sustainability challenges and opportunities.
Sırça holds a PgCert in Social Science Research Methods from the University of East Anglia, UK, where she explored the role of values in climate change adaptation using advanced quantitative and qualitative methods. She also earned an MSc in Climate Change and International Development with distinction from the same institution and an MA in European Public Affairs from Maastricht University, the Netherlands. Her academic journey began with a BA in Social and Political Sciences from Sabancı University, Türkiye, where she graduated with high honors.
Commited to continuous learning and professional development in an ever-expanding field, Sırça has completed extensive training and earned multiple certifications relevant to her field, including in carbon accounting, innovation and design thinking, trainer training, climate adaptation, biodiversity, and corporate sustainability.
Fluent in English alongside her native Turkish, Sırça effectively communicates complex sustainability narratives to international audiences. Her cross-cultural experiences, combined with her interdisciplinary insights, enable her to engage stakeholders worldwide and build transformative partnerships.
