ESG Atelier
ESG Atelier

A training and capacity building program focusing on ESG for corporates and their managers/senior officials who are tasked with leadership/strategy/business development.

The world is changing. According to the World Economic Forum, 7 out of 10 global risks are associated with environmental and social issues, including climate change, nature loss and societal polarization, etc. It’s inevitable for businesses to respond to this change.
The society in general and the customers, suppliers, employees in particular, now expect a more responsible, ethical and environmentally friendly attitude from companies.
ESG reports are required at international, EU and national levels according to new regulations.

So, what is ESG?
At its most basic level, ESG stands for Environmental, Social, and Governance… as far as a company is concerned, it actually is the disclosure of environmental, social, and governance data, which increases stakeholder transparency in order to reduce risks and identify opportunities.
ESG covers a spectrum of business aspects that financial analyses do not usually consider, yet often do have financial relevance for businesses.
Today, ESG ratings are used to evaluate a company based on its environmental, social, and governance practices, to provide transparency for investors, customers, and the industry as a whole.

Why is it important for you?

Historically, social and environmental efforts were thought of more as an aside to daily business; but ESG reporting has become increasingly important to the business model, as it aims to reduce risk and increase corporate accountability.

Employees, investors, customers, and other stakeholders are now holding companies accountable for their impact on the environment and human rights, which has resulted in sustainability reporting as a standard for corporations.

As the world faces increasing challenges related to climate change and social issues, ESG considerations will continue to play a critical role in the way companies and investors operate and measure their performance.

This is critically important for companies, because a failure in adaptation to the new circumstances might eventually imply loss of their market share, partners, employees and even their reputation.

So ESG is no longer a fringe concept but a household initialism for companies and investors. Today, ESG data is used to evaluate a company’s performance on specific issues concerning the environment, people and governance. For instance, carbon emissions per unit of revenue are used to evaluate a businesses’ environmental impact, while employee turnover rates are used to evaluate a company’s labor practices.

ESG Training: the first step forward

A full process of development and implementation of ESG would involve building corporate capacity, assessment, investment (finance), and communication, etc. While our scope covers all these aspects (which are separately presented), the ESG Atelier of KeyProactive is dedicated to the first stage of this process.
Through our training program, delivered in partnership with specialized international partners, we help companies/organizations strengthen their in-house capacities by cultivating ESG Ambassador(s), who can drive sustainability initiatives within the beneficiary organization.
